CONSTITUTION

 

Name


The name of this association shall be the Teachers of Home Economics Specialist Association
(THESA).


Purpose of THESA


The purpose of this non-profit provincial specialist association shall be to support and
communicate with members and subscribers; and to develop high standards of home economics
programs and services in British Columbia schools by:

  1. Closely monitoring and responding to educational change as it affects Home Economics education.

  2. Providing professional development and quality learning resources and tools.

  3. Improving working and learning conditions in Home Economics classrooms in British Columbia.

  4. Fostering greater understanding of the value of Home Economics within our profession.

  5. Increasing public awareness of the value of Home Economics.

  6. Maintaining communication networks between the THESA executive and the membership.

  7. Promoting professional standards of qualifications and training as well as involvement in other professional organizations.

  8. Liaising between the BCTF and our membership.

  9. Building connections with BC Home Economics teacher education programs and national and international organizations related to home economics.

  10. Advocating, through the BCTF, for Ministry of Education support and recognition.

Base of Operation


The association operates in the province of British Columbia, chiefly through the British Columbia
Teachers Federation office (BCTF) located in Vancouver.
