Welcome back to school, THESA members!

I hope your summers were excellent and that you managed to get some good rest before jumping back into the chaos of a new school year. Walking back into the classroom always brings a mix of nerves and excitement for me, but it’s always a nice reminder that our community of home economics teachers are heading into the classroom at the same time as me bringing their own version of passion and enthusiasm.

Speaking of excitement, our upcoming conference is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for October 23. I’m excited to head back to La Salle College and I am loving how practical the focus of this year’s conference is. The theme—"Re-ignite the Hearth - Connecting our Classrooms to Careers"—is all about giving us tangible, real-world tools we can take straight back to our students. I hope to see you there either in person or online. Thank you so much to our incredible hosts for putting in so much effort to make this conference a fantastic professional development opportunity for all attendees. (Let me know if you or your colleagues are interested in hosting next year’s THESA conference - we’re looking for a host for 2028!)

As you settle into your routines, please take a second to think about the amazing educators around you. Nominations are open for the Home Economics Teacher of the Year award and our Pins of Recognition, so don't forget to nominate your hard-working colleagues. They deserve to be celebrated!

Lastly, a massive shoutout to Melanie and Mallory from the THESA executive for completely updating and revamping the THESA TTOC booklet. Go check it out in our Google Drive and download it! It’s such a nice thing to have on those days when you weren’t expecting to be away.
